Jon Pousette-Dart Brings Decades of Timeless Americana to Natick Center for the Arts – November 1

This November, audiences at the Natick Center for the Arts will have the chance to experience a true icon of American songwriting. Jon Pousette-Dart, the acclaimed singer-songwriter and founder of the legendary Pousette-Dart Band, returns to Massachusetts for a special performance on Friday, November 1.

It’s been over four decades since Pousette-Dart first made waves in the Boston music scene — and his connection to the region runs deep. Back in the 1970s, after being discovered by Boston promoter Don Law while performing on Nantucket, the New York native relocated to Boston and quickly became a fixture on the national touring circuit. Under Law’s management, the Pousette-Dart Band evolved from a small acoustic act into one of the most respected names in the soft rock and Americana scenes.

A Legacy in American Music

Signed to Capitol Records, the Pousette-Dart Band released a string of albums that blended rock, folk, and soul with poetic storytelling. Two of their records, Amnesia and Pousette-Dart Band 3, broke into the Billboard album charts, and their 1979 single “For Love” climbed to #83 on the Billboard singles chart.

The band became a staple of the album-oriented radio era and were a must-see act on college campuses and major stages across the country. They shared bills with an astonishing lineup of legendary artists, including The Eagles, Bonnie Raitt, Little Feat, James Taylor, Emmylou Harris, Billy Joel, and many more — even appearing on the now-famous Frampton Comes Alive tour and opening for Yes on the band’s Fragile tour.

The Music Lives On

After the group disbanded in the early 1980s, Jon Pousette-Dart continued performing and recording. Teaming up again with original drummer Eric Parker, he released a series of acclaimed solo albums — including 2015’s Talk, hailed by fans as some of his strongest songwriting to date.

Today, Jon continues to bring his authentic voice and finely crafted songs to audiences across the country. Whether performing solo, as an acoustic duo, or with his full band, Pousette-Dart delivers a show rich in musicianship, warmth, and connection. His current lineup features Malcolm Gold (Sheryl Crow, India.Arie) on bass and harmony vocals, Eric Parker (Joe Cocker, Mick Taylor) on drums, and Jim Chapdelaine (Al Anderson, Phoebe Snow) on guitar and vocals — a group that brings both energy and finesse to every stage.
