A new documentary about singer/songwriter Janis Ian is set to hit theaters in March.

Janis Ian: Breaking Silence follows the artist from her teen years, when she was part of the 1960s Greenwich Village music scene, to international stardom in the ’70s, thanks to her Grammy-winning hit “At Seventeen,” as well as tunes like “Stars” and “Jesse,” which were covered by other artists. It also explores her life as an activist and outspoken advocate for LGBTQ+ rights.

“Music is about telling stories,” Ian says in a trailer for the film. “This is mine.”

The film features interviews with Ian’s well-known friends and collaborators, including actresses Lily Tomlin, Jean Smart and Laurie Metcalf, as well as singers Joan Baez, Arlo Guthrie and Tom Paxton.

Janis Ian: Breaking Silence will open in theaters on March 28.
