Eighties pop star Rick Springfield is selling off some of his coin collection, and apparently it’s worth a pretty penny.
The “Jessie’s Girl” singer has teamed with Stack’s Bowers Galleries to auction off a collection of about three dozen rare United States gold coins. According to the press release, the collection includes “historically significant and high-grade specimens that reflect his appreciation for American heritage and numismatic excellence.”
Among the coins up for auction are an 1879 Four-Dollar Gold Stella, with an approximate value of $230,000, and an MCMVII (1907) Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle, with an approximate value of $350,000.
“We are the stewards of these historical items for a period in time,” Springfield says. “My hope is the next collector who takes possession will love them as much as I have.”
Springfield adds that he’d like to meet the “most significant buyer” in the auction, and is offering up two tickets and two VIP passes to any of his upcoming concerts in order to make the meeting happen.
He adds, “I look forward to sharing a coin story or two with them!”
The Rick Springfield Collection will be part of Stack’s Bowers Galleries’ 2025 Summer Global Showcase Auction, Aug. 25-30 and Sept. 2-5 in Costa Mesa, California.
Springfield is currently headlining the I Want My 80s tour, which also features John Waite, Wang Chung, Paul Young and John Cafferty. The tour hits Atlantic City, New Jersey, on Friday. A complete list of dates can be found at RickSpringfield.com.
